NACSB National Players of the Week - June 24, 2026
SANFORD, Fla.- Throughout the 2026 season, the National Alliance of College Summer Baseball will honor two players at the conclusion of each week, a National Player and Pitcher of the Week. Players are nominated for the award by earning their league's Player or Pitcher of the Week award. This week's honors represent performances through Sunday, June 22. The weekly honors are selected via a vote of league officials from around the Alliance.
The third National Player of the Week award is awarded to Bud Coombs (Vanderbilt), playing this summer for the Southern Maryland Senators of the Cal Ripken, Sr. Collegiate Baseball League. Coombs hit .545 (12-for-22) across six games, collecting 12 hits, 16 RBIs, four home runs, and 24 total bases, posting a staggering 1.091 slugging percentage along with a .688 on-base percentage.
The Maryland native's remarkable week only strengthened what has already been one of the league’s best seasons. Through eight games, Coombs, who played at Maryland last season before committing to Vanderbilt, leads the CRSCBL in batting average at .552, on-base percentage (.683), and slugging percentage (.966), establishing himself as an offensive threat.
The top pitcher in the nation for the past week was the Newport Gulls' Jake Lenahan (Holy Cross) from the New England Collegiate Baseball League. Lenahan, a native of South Abington Township, Pennsylvania, was dominant as a starter during his appearance this week. The Holy Cross right-hander earned a win against the Valley Blue Sox on June 20, throwing six hitless innings with six strikeouts to secure a 10-0 victory. Lenahan currently ranks second in the league with a 1.13 ERA.
Lenahan is coming off a sophomore season in 2026 at Holy Cross in which he earned All-Patriot League honors and Academic All-Patriot League. His best game of the collegiate season came against Army West Point on May 10, where he pitched 7.1 innings and struck out 10 batters. In the 2026 season he led the team in saves and recorded the second highest number of strikeouts (67).
Additionally, the Alliance honors the players from around the nation that were nominated for this week's award.

The National Alliance of College Summer Baseball (NACSB) is an alliance of twelve college summer leagues that are partially funded by Major League Baseball. Each league and all of their teams are non-profit organizations that support the highest level of collegiate players in their journey to play professional baseball. Members work closely with college baseball programs to ensure player development and eligibility during summer months while maintaining policies that keep player health paramount. This is evidenced by the Alliance's early adoption of the MLB Pitch Smart policy and maintaining a reasonable number of games played across each league. Over 4,000 players choose NACSB leagues each summer with hundreds getting their name called in the MLB draft each year. Member league information can be found on NACSB.ORG.
